Straight Lines

Merewether Ocean Baths Pavilion under a textured sky.

I've been on a bit of a Newcastle spree recently with my posts, so to continue that theme, on a (not-so-recent) jaunt up to Newy to catch up with the crew, we headed to Merewether to take some photos, have a swim, and maybe a wine or two.

There are so many amazing compositions at this place, but as I was scouting, I was struck by the movement and texture in the clouds above the straight lines of the Merewether Ocean Baths changing room / pavilion.

I took a few minutes just standing there, watching the scene, percolating on whether it could make a good shot or not, before setting up the tripod for a long exposure. I knew right away this would be an photo perfect for the black and white treatment. and I think it turned out pretty well if I don't say so myself!

In the spirit of reconciliation, I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians and the lands of the Awabakal and Worimi peoples on which I took this photo. I also acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Elders past and present, and celebrate the diversity of Aboriginal peoples and their ongoing cultures and connections to country.
