hi, i'm patrick.

I've been a photographer for fifteen years. In that time I've shot weddings and elopements, families and newborns, portraits and personal branding sessions, corporate events and brand activations, sports and trail runs, and behind the scenes on film and television productions. I've worked with Netflix, Transport for NSW, Obela, and Randwick Council, and I've photographed hundreds of moments that were significant to nobody but the people in them — which, honestly, is the work I find most meaningful.

I'm based in Coogee, in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, and I shoot across Sydney and beyond.

why i photograph the way i do

I grew up moving between countries and international schools across Asia. When you spend your childhood arriving somewhere new - new school, new city, new language - you get very good at watching. Reading a room. Finding the people who are real. I think that's where my photography comes from: a genuine curiosity about people, and a belief that the most interesting thing in any room is usually what's happening between people, not what's being staged for the camera.

My approach is documentary. I observe, I move quietly, and I wait. I'm not standing you in front of a wall and telling you to smile. I'm watching what happens when you forget I'm there - the way you look at your kid when you think no one is watching, the way your shoulders drop the moment you stop trying to look natural, the moment before the laugh that's often better than the laugh itself. That's what I'm after.

It works the same way whether I'm shooting a family session at Coogee Beach, a wedding at the Royal Botanic Garden, or a product launch somewhere in the city. The brief changes. The approach doesn't.

what working with me looks like

Before any session, we have a proper conversation. Not a questionnaire - an actual call, or a coffee if that works better, where I get to understand what matters to you, what you're worried about, and what you're hoping to walk away with. For a lot of people, that call is the moment the anxiety about being photographed quietly disappears.

On the day, I arrive early, I settle in, and then I get out of your way. For families, that usually means I spend the first fifteen minutes doing absolutely nothing useful - just being around until the kids stop performing for the camera and start being themselves. That's when the real session begins.

After your session, every image is individually colour-graded and retouched. Your gallery arrives within two to three weeks - high-resolution files for printing, web-ready versions for sharing, and yours to keep permanently. No chasing, no upselling, no agonising over a limited selection. You get everything.

I photograph regularly across the Eastern Suburbs - Randwick, Bronte, Bondi, Maroubra, Clovelly, Paddington - as well as the Inner West, CBD, North Shore, and Northern Beaches. For weddings and elopements, I travel willingly: the Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, Hunter Valley, and interstate have all been part of the story at different points.

Travel within greater Sydney is always included. For sessions further afield, a travel fee applies and is quoted transparently before you book.
