Into The Night
Street photography in Bangkok is always amazing. The heat, humidity, neon lights, and overall chaos of movement all combines to make this incredible atmosphere. There's always something to discover and capture. I find the chaos of the road and the chaos of the sidewalk are always meeting in this crazy and gorgeous city, and none more so than in Chinatown.
I was here for dinner, and stayed for the photos. I set up my tripod by the side of the road, trying to balance the art of staying out of the way of the people heaving along the pavement and avoiding getting hit by the passing tuk tuks / taxis / motorbikes / buses (and I mostly succeeded).
This image captures a woman looking to cross the road as a taxi drives past and out of frame. My shutter speed was slowed right down to get the movement you see in the picture, and it also made the woman's face blurry due to her moving as well. Would I have wanted her face to be in sharp focus for this photo?
Probably not.
I really like the energy the movement conveys in this picture. It feels rushed and busy and chaotic and that's exactly what it felt like at the time.
