#lunameet

At the end of August, I went on my first ever #instameet. It was hosted by the awesome team behind Project RAWcast, as well as NiSi Australia, and Australian Photography magazine. The sun shines through the clouds ever so brieflyThe day itself was probably the worst we'd had in Sydney for a while weather-wise, but that didn't seem to deter any of the many photographers that turned up (as an aside, does anyone know if there is a term for a group of photographers? A gaggle? A pride? A proof? A blur? A flash?). But, I digress. The clouds hung heavy overhead, swollen with the rain that was shortly to come. But even that couldn't hold us back! The weather made for some moody shots. As part of the day, we had the opportunity to play around with some NiSi filters, as well as the new Nikon D850. I, of course, didn't get around to doing either. There was a mad rush to both, so I thought I'd wait a while and instead take the opportunity to take some photos... and then never got round to playing with the goods!Shortly after the event started, so did the rain. Photographers and tourists alike all scattered to find somewhere safe and dry, with many huddled under the Coathanger herself, whilst others found room in some sandstone shelters along the foreshore.Sheltering from the rain, with the Opera House standing tall across the harbour. They were taking it in good humour, and probably got some sensational shots out of it.Before I knew it, the rain had petered out and then darkness fell. Out of the multitude of photographers that had turned up for the meet, only a handful remained. That was when I met @mrryan_photography and @shoreshot23, both of whom are fantastic photographers and you should definitely follow their work.Blue hour in the rain.A clown's reflection (sphere courtesy of @shoreshot23).                     I think I managed to capture some decent photos, despite the challenges of the day. I also met some cool, like-minded people, all passionate about taking photos and exploring this amazing city of ours.So overall, I'd deem this a success, and despite my initial hesitation in meeting up with a bunch of strangers, I would definitely do it again. So, when's the next one?The Sydney Opera House, beautiful in blue.
