Wash Over Me
A month or so ago I had the opportunity to try out the Sony Alpha ecosystem thanks to Sony Australia. This was the first time I had handled a mirrorless camera, and I was very impressed! The image quality is incredible, and the image size is just mind-blowing.
They took us down to Mrs Macquaries Point for a photo session, and I quickly grabbed their 100-400mm G Master lens. I'm a sucker for long lenses and this is one I've wanted to try for ages!
As had been the case for pretty much every sunset the last few months, it was a cloudless evening, so I focused on the details of the Opera House and thought it would work really nicely as a simple black and white image against the bright sky background.
I love the detail you can capture with this sensor size - but it came with a cost… my computer almost couldn't handle the file size (mind you, I chose uncompressed so the images were about 80MB each).
I'm not switching over, but it was still a very tantalising taste into the world of mirrorless.
The details for this image are as follows:
- Sony A7R3 with Sony 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS
- f/5.6
- 1/1250s
- ISO400
