Lay It Down

My first stop after shooting the sun rise over the Three Sisters was Katoomba Cascades to try get some flow and soft golden light happening.

(Okay. This is a lie. First stop post-sunrise was actually breakfast because I was starving).

Despite living in Sydney for the past 20 years and having gone to the Blue Mountains countless times, I don't recall ever actually hitting up the cascades here (or many of the waterfalls of the area to be fair), so I was looking forward to seeing what I could capture. I also had no idea what to expect as I just kinda turned up without doing much research!

We hadn't had much rain recently, but the falls were still in decent flow, so I scrambled around trying to find a perspective I liked. I positioned myself here so as to try and capture three levels of the cascades flowing from between the trees which were beautifully lit in the early morning sun.

For my first time here, I was really happy with the conditions and the actual images I captured (and there are a lot of them!).

I'll be posting more photos from this adventure over the next little while, so be prepared for an influx of waterfall photos!
