Legend of the Tower

The Maiden's Tower sits in the Bosphorus, off the coast of Istanbul. This tower has many legends surrounding it, but my favourite has it that it was built to stop a princess from dying by snakebite on her 18th birthday. To stop this from happening, her emperor father built this tower away from land to protect her from any snakes until she reached 18. During this time, the only person to visit this princess was her father, who came by frequently. On her 18th birthday, her father organised a fruit basket to be taken to her as celebration of surviving and thwarting the oracle's prediction, but little did he know that hidden inside this basket of scrumptious delights was a poisonous asp. This snake bit the princess, and she died in her father's arms, fulfilling the prophecy of years before. For the big picture, check it out on my website.
