Moments Like This
Half an hour after the sun had disappeared and the world was deep into the haze of blue hour, the ocean a crushing, heaving mess of waves barrelling to shore, and night fast descending.
On this outcrop overlooking these stacks we watched as the sky turned to darkness and the people who had come to admire these natural phenomenons drifted back to their cars and onward to their homes.
And still we stayed.
And watched the texture in the water, the clouds moving across the sky, the sea mist hovering on the horizon.
And listened to the cawing of the gulls riding up high, to the crashing of the waves against the foot of the cliffs, to the whistle of the wind rushing by.
And then we too packed up our gear and together walked back to the car (but not to home, oh no, we had more photos to take and adventures to experience), satisfied and at peace.
