Red

A red panda at Sydney's Taronga Zoo gets it's teeth onto some local flora.Another edition of Wildlife Wednesday!I could spend hours watching animals do their thing, none moreso than the red panda. I in fact I spent a good amount of time watching this guy on my last visit to the zoo (most of that was also waiting for him to make an appearance!).This gorgeous animal is native to the Eastern Himalayas and Western China. They are classified as endangered by the WWF, with less than 10,000 of them left in the wild. Their red fur is actually used as camouflage to help them blend in with the red-brown lichen native to their region. They've also been classified as belonging to their own family, after having previously been classed as a bear, a racoon, and a cat!The details for this image are:

  • Nikon D7200 with Nikon 80-400mm f/4,5-5.6G VR
  • f/5.6
  • ISO800
  • 1/60s
