Sands of Time
Shadows crawl across this textured land
Lit by the light of dying day
Where the sand glows it's ochre red
And desolate dunes flow like ripples
Beneath the richness of an empty sky
And across it all a strong wind blows
Pushing me ever closer to you
The Red Centre is undeniably magical, and there's nothing more amazing than seeing it from above. On my last full day I was lucky enough to get up above it all and go on a doors-off sunset scenic flight with Ayers Rock Helicopters.
For this shot, I was half hanging out the door trying to capture the details and textures of this amazing expanse of red earth.
I love how one side of the dunes are lit by the setting sun and how it contrasts with the deeper shadows of the other as the day slides slowly into darkness.
It was a truly magnificent sight to behold.
