Isn't it incredible we can capture the Milky Way right here in Sydney?
On a recent clear night, I ducked over to Hornby Lighthouse near Watsons Bay to capture the Milky Way rising off the coast, dodging a rave on Lady Bay Beach along the way.
After I got my shots (they will be posted at some point, I promise!), I made my way back to the car with the intent of heading home and getting some sleep...
Instead, I got talking with the cops who had arrived to disperse the party, and after finding out what I was up to (and verified my bona fides), one of them suggested I try get a shot of the Milky Way above the iconic Tamarama Surf Life Saving Club.
The gauntlet had been thrown. I had no choice but to respond. So I made my way over to Tamarama (and again, had to dodge the ravers that had somehow made it there from Watsons Bay for the second party of the night) and this is the result.
This is 4 images stitched together, but otherwise no other trickery or sorcery (as per usual).
Big shout-out to the officers from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command - they were super-professional and a delight to talk to. And this shot probably wouldn't have happened without them!
