The oldest stone span bridge in Australia, located in Richmond, Tasmania, during golden hour.
The first stop on my Tassie tour was to the iconic Richmond Bridge.
This historic bridge, located about 25 kilometres north of Hobart, is the oldest stone span bridge in Australia and is heritage listed as a result. It was built using convict labour, and was started in 1823 before being completed in 1825.
I spent a solid four hours perched on a little hill overlooking the river, bridge, and church just watching the changing light as clouds streaked across the sky and the sun slowly descended for the day.
I originally tried taking multiple images to create a panorama of the bridge to capture the entire breathtaking scene, but ran into some issues with the stitching so need to revisit it.
Instead, this is just a sneaky 413 second exposure (just under 7 minutes). This is also one of the last photos I took just as the sun burst through the clouds, lighting up the grass and giving the softest of touches to the side of the church and the giant tree alongside.
