Be Slow

A long exposure of the remnants of the Stockton Sand Traps at Stockton Beach.

A long exposure of the remnants of the Stockton Sand Traps at Stockton Beach.

This photo was taken well after sunrise in May last year. I had gone up to Newcastle to get some Milky Way action above Stockton Sand Dunes and to see if I could get a shot of the Stockton Tank Traps at sunrise.

The Milky Way shots were a success, but the sunrise was a bit of a bust with hardly any colour at all, so instead I decided to set up my ten stop and do some long exposures.

This shot is (almost) five and a half minutes and is a reminder that sometimes it's okay to slow down.

In the spirit of reconciliation, I acknowledge the Awabakal and Worimi peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land and waters on which I took this photo. I also pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Elders past and present, and celebrate the diversity of Aboriginal peoples and their ongoing cultures and connections to country.
