Downpour

A person walks through heavy rain in Sydney's Domain.

Something a little different from me today. This photo was taken while taking shelter under a Moreton Bay Fig in the Domain, waiting for this particular squall to blow over.

I don't normally do much black and white, but I love the moodiness imbued here with the driving rain, over-exposed lights, and the leading lines.

But it's not a sense of loneliness I feel when I look at this photo.

You can see how hard the rain is falling and you can almost feel how cold it must have been walking through this terrible weather, but this person under the umbrella isn't hunched in defeat, nor are they scuttling along, eager to escape the elements. Instead they are strolling along with their head high and back straight, facing it front-on with nary a worry.

And that, to me, is beautiful.
