Empty Streets, Bright Lights

The sails of the Opera House hidden behind historic buildings of The Rocks.

It was a really nice experience exploring Vivid without all the crowds heaving and clamouring all around. Of course I had to put up with some pretty heavy periodic downpours as payment, and got absolutely drenched, but I like to think it was worth it!

This particular image was taken up behind The Rocks on Gloucester Walk (which incidentally, is where I spotted @dkphotographyau in the wild but didn't say hi because it took me a moment to realise who they were - Karlie is taller than I thought!).

In all honesty, I do kind of wish there was an ocean of people in the foreground to give it a real sense of movement and vibrancy, but I love the idea that just around the corner there is a crush of people all looking at the sails of the Opera House lit up and the spotlights shining out into the night sky.

The details for this image are:

  • Nikon D750 with Tamron 24-7-mm f/2.8
  • f/4.5
  • 1.3 seconds
