Fade to Light

Dawn on the first morning of our workshop was spent capturing the setting of the Milky Way before making our way to the sunrise viewing platform overlooking Uluru.

When we got there, I had my wide angle lens on from the astro shoot, but I wanted to take a panorama to capture more detail in the rolling textures of the rock itself, whilst also still capturing the surrounding landscape.

So I pulled out trusty Tammy (my 24-70mm) and zoomed pretty much all the way to 70mm and took six images that I then combined to form this one.

You can see the early morning rays of the sun just lightly kissing Uluru, giving it a beautiful red glow that contrasts beautifully with the deep hues of the sky and the muted greens and yellows of the ground.

These are the true colours of Australia, and they are beautiful.

The details for this image are:

  • NiSi GND 16⁣ filter

  • Sirui W-1204 tripod with K-20x Ball Head⁣

  • 13s
