New Year's Day

Revellers welcome the dawn of a new year at Gordons Bay, Sydney.
Revellers welcome the dawn of a new year at Gordons Bay, Sydney.

Revellers from the night before congregate on the morning after to watch the sun rise on a new day in a brand new year.

Friends for years, or maybe just for hours, they bond over shared moments, shared experiences, and shared love.

What will this year bring? Will we be beaten down by heartbreak and loss, or lifted up by love and laughter?

Odds are it will be both, for that is what life is; ups and downs and everything in between.

You will feel lost and alone, but also loved and supported. You will experience things you've never experienced before, done things you could only have imagined.

And at the end of these next 12 months you will still be you, but a stronger you.

A you that has cried tears of joy

A you that has cried tears of grief.

A you that has grown.

A you that has suffered.

A you that has loved.

A you that has lost.

A you that has learnt.

A you that has survived.

And that deserves celebrating.

So on New Year's Day next year, we will once again gather with the ones we love and welcome in the dawn of another year, ready to grow and laugh and grieve once more.
