Resisting what this future may bring

Memories of us sparkle in our minds
Like the stars glowing so high above
Remembering the laughter and joy
Of a life well-lived
Of time well-spent
But even now it's slipping away

As galaxies fly through space above
The space between us grows ever more
Is there anything we can do
As we slip away from the past
As we drift away into the dark
And face the fear of the unknown ahead
