Light & Magic
An absolutely stunning sunset introduced me to the Twelve Apostles on Victoria's Great Ocean Road.
But as gorgeous as the scene was, I still couldn't get my head around why they called it the 'Twelve Apostles' when there were only ever 8 of these limestone stacks (7 now, after one collapsed in 2005).
I much prefer the other names they were known by: the Sow and Piglets, or the Pinnacles.
Local folklore seems to suggest they were named the 'Twelve Apostles' back in the day due to the fact visitors are struck by awe when they see them, and can't help but marvel at God's incredible creation (and being a biblical bunch, rounding up from 8 to 12 made sense. I guess?).
But even still, in that sense, I sort of understand.
I'm not a religious man, but the places I find myself whilst on my photography adventures always seem to leave me feeling so immensely over-awed at the things I see it's hard not to be thankful for the unbelievable beauty nature has blessed us with.
So despite the name (I'll never get over it, sorry), this really was spectacular to behold, and I felt so incredibly lucky to witness it.
Even with @louiseclarke_photography and @caseyskye by my side.
